Jackson County has contracted with Emergency Communications Network, Inc., of Ormond Beach, Florida for its high-speed telephone emergency notification services. CodeRED is a type of reverse 9-1-1. This system allows county officials (Emergency Management / 9-1-1) the ability to deliver prerecorded emergency telephone notification/information messages to targeted areas or the entire county concerning manmade or natural emergencies.
No one should automatically assume his or her phone number is included. All businesses should register as well as all individuals who have unlisted numbers, changed their telephone number or address within the last year, and use cellular telephone as their primary home phone. Business owners also have the opportunity to add an additional number if their property is included in an emergency situation. The CodeRED system works fine for cell phones, but we have to have a street address. Street addresses are needed to select who receives the emergency notification call in any given situation.
Once your information is in the database, if you should change your phone number or street address, please log-in and make the appropriate changes for the database to keep it current and updated.
CodeRED gives those who want to be included an easy and secure method for doing so. This information will be used for emergency notification purposes only. All listed and unlisted telephone numbers will be kept confidential. If you have questions, please contact the Jackson County Emergency Management Office at 828-586-7508 Monday - Friday, 8 a.m. - 5 p.m.
Required information for the CodeRED system is first and last name, physical street address, (no P.O. boxes), city, state, zip code and primary telephone number. Be sure to check the box if you live in a manufactured or mobile home.
