Jackson County Transit Information - Click Here is a fully coordinated public transportation system and operates as a branch of Jackson County Government. Jackson County Transit provides transportation for human service agencies, the elderly, persons with disabilities, and the general public of Jackson County. In addition, we offer a deviated fixed route, paratransit service, and a demand response service between 7:00am until 5:00pm, Monday through Friday, except holidays. 

Limited service is available to Asheville, Waynesville, Franklin and Bryson City. Trips outside of Jackson County must be scheduled at least one (1) week in advance of the trip. If appointments are made less than one week in advance, they will be taken on availability. Requests for in county service must be made before 2:00 pm prior to the scheduled trip, except for the Jackson Trolley, which operates Monday through Friday from 7:00am until 5:00pm, and on Saturdays from 10:00am until 2:00pm. This a deviated fixed service that includes 14 fixed bus stops along the route.

  • Cullowhee, Savannah, Barkers Creek and Ochre Hill: $3.00
  • East LaPorte, Caney Fork, Tuckasegee, Pumpkintown, Whittier, and Balsam/Willets: $4.00
  • Canada, Cherokee and Qualla :$5.00
  • Glenville, Cashiers, Bryson City, Franklin and Waynesville: $10.00
  • Asheville: $20.00
  • Asheville Airport: $25.00

Demand/Response service is provided to the elderly, persons with disabilities, and the general public. Requests for transportation within Jackson County must be received by 2:00 pm the day prior to the date of the trip. Trips out of Jackson County must be schedule at least one week in advance.

Jackson County Transit provides home pick-up and delivery to and from destinations for the following:

  • Shopping 
  • Banking 
  • Paying utility bills 
  • Employment
  • Recreational activities
  • Congregate meal program
  • Senior Center activities
  • College and university attendance (SCC and WCU)

  • Angel Medical Center - Franklin
  • Memorial Mission Hospital - Asheville

Lift-Equipped vans are available for persons with disabilities. Medicaid transportation must be scheduled through the Jackson County Department of Social Services. Contact the Transit Office for more information at 828-586-0233.

The Jackson Trolly is a deviated fixed route serving the Sylva-Dillsboro-Webster areas, operating Monday through Friday from 7:00 am until 5:00 pm. The following scheduled times are approximate and you should be at the stop early. These times begin at the top of each hour.

Fares are $1.00 per boarding, per person. A booklet of 20 tickets may be purchased for $15.00 (1 ticket = 1 boarding), or a monthly pass may be purchased for $20.00 which may be used for an unlimited number of boarding’s during a month period.
