Plats, or surveys, are recorded in the Register of Deeds office. Plat sizes can be 18” by 24” or 24” by 36”. After proper approvals from the Jackson County Planning Department (phone: 828-631-2261) and the Jackson County Land Records (phone: 828-586-7539), a Mylar copy and one paper copy is filed in the Register of Deeds Office. The cost to record a plat is $21.00. Copies of survey plats can be obtained for $2.00 in our office. All plats that are on record in our office are now on-line, and can be viewed and copied from outside the office at no charge.
